Rakhee Thakrar, 39, is a British actress of Indian descent, best known for playing high-school English teacher Emily Sands, in the television Netflix series Sex Education (2019–present) and Shabnam Masood in the long-running BBC One soap opera EastEnders (2014–2016). Thakrar was born on 29 February 1984 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, UK. She was born to migrated Indian parents. Rakhee has two younger brothers, Shivam Thakrar (b. 1991) and Anuj Thakrar (b. 1997). Thakrar is married to an actor, Vikash Bhai (September 2, 2017 – present).
Her educational background includes high school at Taylor Road Primary School, Leicester, and higher education at Soar Valley College. She was a journalist for a British newspaper.
