Sunny is also famous for his roles in Ghatak (1996), Ziddi (1997) & Border (1997). Sunny will reprise his role in the upcoming movie Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, which marks the 22nd anniversary of the film Gadar. Sunny was born on 19 October 1956 in Sahnewal, Punjab, India. His father, Dharmendra, is a Bollywood actor and his mother, Prakash Kaur, is a housewife. Raised in a Punjabi Jat family with three siblings, a younger brother Bobby Deol and two sisters, Vijayta and Ajeeta.
Sunny is married to Pooja Deol (aka Lynda Deol; m. 1984) and the couple has two sons, Karan “Rocky” Deol (b. November 27, 1990) and Rajveer Deol (b. May 12, 1994). His son, Karan, a Bollywood actor, is married to Drisha Acharya. Sunny’s step-mother is a Bollywood actress Hema Malini and his half-sisters are, Actress Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Sunny joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 23 April 2019. Currently, he is a Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur (Lok Sabha constituency) of Punjab, India.

In Gadar 2, Sunny Deol, Ameesha & Utkarsh Sharma will reprise their role as Tara Singh, Sakeena “Sakku” Ali Singh (Tara Singh’s wife) & Charanjeet “Jeete” Singh (Tara and Sakeena’s son) respectively, whereas new actress Simrat Kaur will be starred Muskaan, Charanjeet’s love interest.
This film is a sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which was released in 2001 and was set during the Partition of India in 1947. In the sequel, Tara Singh travels to Pakistan to rescue his son Charanjeet, who has been imprisoned and tortured by the Pakistani military during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. A love story is also included in the film between Charanjeet and Muskaan, played by Simrat Kaur.
Gadar 2 is scheduled for release on 11 August 2023, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend. It will compete at the box office with Akshay Kumar’s comedy film OMG 2. The actor Utkarsh Sharma has stated that he is not concerned about the clash and that it should be celebrated like “Barbie and Oppenheimer coming together”, referring to two Hollywood films that were released on the same day in 2016.
