In Gadar 2, Utkarsh performs the role of Charanjeet “Jeete” Singh, the son of Tara Singh, on-screen son of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. In addition, he is the son of the director and producer of the film, Anil Sharma. As a child artist, Utkarsh made his debut in the first film he starred in, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001). After completing his education in film and acting, he worked as an assistant director on a few films before making his comeback as a lead actor in Genius (2018).
This film is a sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which was released in 2001 and was set during the Partition of India in 1947. In the sequel, Tara Singh travels to Pakistan to rescue his son Charanjeet, who has been imprisoned and tortured by the Pakistani military during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. A love story is also included in the film between Charanjeet and Muskaan, played by Simrat Kaur.
